Needless to say, I did not find a plugin that effectively works to hide child pages in the drop down navigation in WordPress 3.1′s new custom menu feature. I did end up using an amazing plugin called Theme Companion to hide the child pages in the drop down navigation menu. Theme Companion will effectively over ride your themes CSS allowing you to hack your theme classes without changing a bit of theme code. WordPress truly is the best CMS web development tool.
