Kickstarter is a unique method for great ideas to receive funding through an ‘all or nothing’ funding method where projects must be fully funded through donations or no money changes hands.

This project will support an outreach event and will help with hop growing costs at a community based commercial hopyard-located in Wisconsin. The goal of this project is to cover some operating costs and the cost of hosting our next farm event where we use education to demonstrate to the community about sustainable farming methods and to share with others the economic opportunity presented by growing hops as a high demand local crop for small brewers. In 2009 Simple Earth Hops secured a USDA grant to recoup the cost of building our hopyard, but support for outreach events and some growing expenses is still need.

This is really exciting, I have already received am IQ request (SCAM!) from a [not] potential employer for this very ad which I placed on the Madison Craigslist.org website today. Here’s the [not-so-fake] resume (and below are links to some cover letters and resumes I currently use).

Before I tell you about my skills and professional experience, let’s talk about me and what I want out of my new job:

LOCATION

I’m looking for a job in this general Southwestern Wisconsin region:

• – I would prefer to work 1st shift but will also settle for 2nd or 3rd shift.
• – I would like to be able to work Monday through Friday and have the weekends free.

• – Also, a laptop purchasing agreement or loaner for home so my daughter can still access Facebook and I can still play on Fiverr.com during my free time on the weekends…
• – Preferably a job I can work from home but still receive a salary, insurance benefits, bonuses, vacation, retirement package, a commuting package with mileage expense built in – in case I have to come into the office and where you as the employer will provide me with office equipment including a Mac and PC (would like that to be a PC laptop)? Oh, and if I’ll be working from home, I will need: a printer; network router (w/ wireless of coarse) and monitors for the 2 computers.
• – The ideal employer would provide me with a cell phone package.
• – That should cover what I want.

I have spent over a decade working as a Graphic Designer, Creative Writer, Production QC and Webmaster for my own company and for others. The following is a quick summary of my skills:

I’m completely self motivated, working 2 or 3 different jobs at a time. I have strong organizational and interpersonal skills due to both the nature of my career and the many clients which I have worked with in the past. As a home brewer and supporter of local craft brewers and local ethical businesses, my knowledge of the trade comes from hands-on experience. I believe that I would be a great addition to an ethical team, and that my breadth of knowledge will be a welcome fit.

1. Don’t bore the audience with tons of words on each PowerPoint presentation slide.
   1. The slides are not your notes for your presentation.
   2. Keep your slides and the presentation script separate.
2. Make the slides interesting.
   1. Use no more than 10 words per slide.
   2. Use funny graphics if possible.
3. Don’t use technical stuff.
   1. Try to ammuse the audience not bore!
4. Use a story to make the presentation.
   • What you want the audience to take away from the speech.
   • Overall philosophy.
   • The story keeps you focused which you can continue to come back to.
5. Don’t go into too much detail.
6. Make sure to include pauses for them to take in the slide then talk.
7. Make the presentation informal, ask questions, engage the audience.
